Notables

- It was a tale of two goaltenders tonight as Al Montoya shut down the Bruins in the first half of the game. The flood gates came open when Evgeni Nabokov came in, as he allowed three Boston goals in the second half of the game. As it stands, Montoya and Rick DiPietro were the best two goalies during camp and deserve to be dressed on Saturday night.

- After Brad Marchand delivered a big hit on John Tavares, P.A. Parenteau stepped in to defend the Isles star player. A good sign from a player who is still fighting to keep his spot, and it shows that he gets what Tavares means to the franchise.

- Micheal Haley most likely solidified himself a spot on the roster tonight, as he assisted on a goal by Marty Reasoner and got into a fight with Bruins hopeful Chris Clark. He most likely will beat out Jay Pandolfo, who appeared in all five games and had an average camp. However, nothing is final until the Isles make their final cuts sometime this week.

- On the plus side, the Isles seemingly escaped tonight's game with no major injuries. Assuming Nino Niederreiter is healthy and remains on Long Island, the Islanders should head into Saturday's home opener. The only other question is Brian Rolston, but all signs point to him being ready as well.

- On the minus side, the Isles could not get the stream to work in sync for most of the night. Disappointing for many fans who were interested in seeing the team one final time before the season started.

Next Game

The Islanders open the 2011-12 season on Saturday, October 8 against the Florida Panthers at the Nassau Coliseum. The game is scheduled at 8:05 PM because of Yom Kippur.
