Prospects: Cizikas Happy To Join Islanders

Arthur Staple tweeted this morning linking to an interview he had with recently signed Islanders prospect Casey Cizikas. Cizikas talks about his hectic year and his excitement for the 2011 training camp with the Islanders.

The signing went down to the wire due to Cizikas' participation in the Memorial Cup with Mississauga. Both sides clearly wanted to get this done, which was great. The Islanders locked up a top prospect of theirs for three years, and now Cizikas will get a chance to battle for the 4th line center spot in camp, though it's more likely if the Islanders stay internally they will go with one of their free agents (Konopka/Haley) or a Bridgeport center such as David Ullstrom. No doubt Cizikas will be in the battle, as he will make it very hard to send him down given his style of play.
